NHS Pay Talks - Resources For Branches
Key content (click to download):
UNISON has agreed to enter talks with the government on NHS pay. As a result, the planned strike action in England on Wednesday 8 March was called off to allow negotiations to begin. This decision was made by our Health Service Group Executive in consultation with the branches involved.
We have submitted notice to employers in England for strike action on Monday 20 March, including for action short of strike around this date in some areas. Whether or not that industrial action goes ahead is dependent on how talks progress.
The NHS pay talks are likely to result in a member consultation on a final offer or a renewed dispute in England. In either case we will need the best member data possible.
In employers where we had better member contact details in November, we were, on average, more likely to get strike action mandates.
Branches with or without IA mandates can use the presentation and script below to talk to their members about the NHS pay talks and to set activists up have the conversations needed gather more complete member records.
Why not hold an online or in-person meeting to explain the talks and get the data needed for consulting or balloting?
